Cananga odorata var. genuina
Flowers, Hydrodistilled, Madagascar
Ylang Ylang is used as an antidepressant either inhaled in a dilution or through a diffuser. It is soothing to nervous depression, anger, insomnia, and low self-esteem. The scent of ylang ylang stimulates the adrenal glands. It is antiseptic, and can be taken internally in 2-5 drop doses in honey water for intestinal infections, purulent secretions, impotence, and frigidity. It is used in cosmetics for both its scent and also to treat dry, aged or mature skin.
Our sumptuous Ylang Ylang Absolute has a sweet, intensely floral aroma typically associated with Ylang Ylang essential oil, however the aroma has more depth, character, and tenaciousness and is more substantial than our steam distilled Ylang Ylang oils. It has a strength and lightness in its topnote and a long-lasting, elegantly sweet, floral-spicy, musk-like drydown. Ylang Ylang Absolute is a must have for any natural perfumer desiring to create luscious sweet florals with greater tenacity and longevity. According to perfumer Alec Lawless, Ylang Ylang Absolute “can be used well below the level of conscious detection yet…still impart valuable body, some lift, and a harmonizing effect.”1
The complexity and characteristics of Ylang Ylang Absolute can best be determined by using a fragrance tester strip, aka scent strip. The intoxicating aroma of this beautiful absolute conjures palpable images of the flowers’ paradisial origins: palm trees swaying over sun-drenched beaches, exotic spices, peaceful island breezes, gossamer rays of moonlight, and the rhythm of the ocean’s song. Such is the power of Ylang Ylang’s amazing aroma for easing the mind, as well as for its effect in the composition of perfumes. It is one of the finest aromatic materials in the perfume industry.
Ylang Ylang Absolute is for use in perfumery only. If you are interested in using Ylang Ylang for therapeutic purposes, please see our other high-quality Ylang Ylang essential oils that we offer.
