This leaf known for cat intoxication is also an ideal remedy for treatment of flus and colds. Catnip promotes sweating, reduces fever, opens the sinuses and relieves pain. This herb can also reduce inflammation and calm the nerves from agitation. Capnip is also used for headaches, vomiting, and colic. Safety should be used during pregnancy, but known to be safe with children. Dosage is ¼ to 1 teaspoon up to 3 times/day.
Catnip contains iridoida, tannins, and volatile oil. It settles the stomach, sedates, stimulates sweating, and reduces fever. It helps to settle indigestion and colic, as well as digestion-related headaches.
Simple nervous dyspepsia from agitation.
Nausea, general anesthetic.
Vomiting, in general.
Colic in infants, with flatulence; or with crying, agitated, hysterical.
Fever in infants, suppressed sweating.
Headache in children with moist skin, hot head.
