Clary Sage is a mood-lifter and is grounding at the same time. As an inhalant, it reduces tension, depression and PMS. If used towards the end of pregnancy, it is a great morale booster. If massaged directly on the lower abdomen and lower back, it eases menstrual pain and cramps. Especially good combined with Sandalwood for menstrual irregularities. Clary Sage can be used in diffusers for hot flashes, menopause symptoms and people who experience waves of heat. It is also good for regenerating skin and reducing wrinkles.
The captivating scent of our very fine organic Clary Sage essential oil from Bulgaria is fresh, warm, sweet yet somewhat bitter herbaceous with tea and soft tobacco undertones. It is an aroma that many find euphoric while the oil is considered indispensible for issues common to women..1 The name clary (Latin for clarus, or “clear”) reflects the traditional use of a sticky mucilage made from a decoction of Clary Sage seeds that, when applied to the eyes, removes particles and foreign objects.2,3
Salvia sclarea is a perennial native to the Mediterranean region, growing wild in France, Germany, North Africa, parts of Italy, and also on the Crimean peninsula. It is cultivated in France, Bulgaria, Hungary, Russia, England and the US. The green parts of the plant and especially the flowering tops yield the essential oil4, which contains more than 250 constituents, 49-75 percent of which is linalyl acetate.5
