Eucalyptus radiata

Wild Harvest

Leaf, Steam Distilled, South Africa

Eucalyptus Radiata is known as the more all-purpose eucalyptus oil. It is antiviral and can be used in the treatment of herpes, colds and flus. It is anti-inflammatory and can be used as an expectorant. It€™s safest to use during pregnancy and with small children. Eucalyptus Radiata is known for its pleasing aromatic properties and can be used as an air purifier and immune stimulant. It can also be used for lack of concentration, increased alertness and clearing the mind. Do not use in strong dilutions on the skin. Avoid if history of epilepsy or hypertension.

The pleasant smell and valuable chemical constituents of our certified organic Narrow Leaf Eucalyptus makes it our favorite eucalyptus essential oil. Narrow Leaf Eucalyptus is also known as Grey, Black or Narrow-Leaved Peppermint Eucalyptus; its aroma is more complex and generally more pleasing than the aroma of Blue Gum Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus). It is extremely beneficial for the respiratory system and is camphor-free and gentler than Blue Gum Eucalyptus, making it particularly appropriate for children and elders.1

For hundreds of years, the Aborigines of Australia have used Eucalyptus leaves for their antiseptic and healing actions.2 In the mid-1800s, groves of eucalyptus trees were planted in swampy areas of North Africa to halt the spread of malaria; the trees required large amounts of water to thrive, lowering the water table and thus eliminating breeding conditions for malaria-carrying mosquitoes, as well as repelling these insects with the aroma exhaled from the leaves.3 French surgeon Jean Valnet, MD, reported that 70% of airborne staph bacteria were killed when a 2% emulsion of eucalyptus oil was used as a spray.4
