As a circulatory stimulant, Juniper essential oil is helpful for rheumatic complaints, fluid retention and cellulite, as well as hemorrhoids and varicose veins. It is useful for skin complaints of oily nature, as well as greasy hair and dandruff. It is good for individuals who feel fatigued; suffer from insomnia, anxiety, and who are generally mentally exhausted. It is also wonderful in a sitz bath and useful for cystitis. It clears the mind and strengthens the nervous system. Juniper should not be used by people with compromised kidney conditions.

Our Organic Juniper Berry essential oil from Bulgaria has a very fine, fresh, woody-green aroma.  It is completely devoid of harsh notes common to this oil indicating a distillation process that was done with great care. Juniper is one of the most widely used essential oils in aromatherapy, and Juniper Berry essential oil is said to be a psychological fortifier of the spirit during times of anxiety, low energy, and weakness as its aroma cleanses the atmosphere of a room and supports centering and meditation practices.1

Juniper Berry essential oil really shines in its ability to purge toxins from the body through its diuretic properties, (attributed to its Terpinen-4-ol and α-Terpineol content).  It helps increase urination to flush toxins from the body, and is renowned for its effectiveness in clearing urinary tract infections, as well as, for cleansing the circulatory-lymphatic system to address edema (swelling) and cellulite.2,3 Juniper Berry is also indicated for dissolving bladder and kidney stones4 and is a digestive and pancreatic stimulant.5,6

Juniper Berry essential oil is also recommended for pain relief and neuralgia,7 perhaps due to its β-Myrcene content, a monoterpene said to have analgesic properties.8 Its astringent action is beneficial when used externally, (sometimes combined with frankincense), for the treatment of hemorrhoids.9 This astringent action, along with its antiseptic and detoxifying properties, is recommended to help clear oily skin, acne, and other skin conditions such as eczema (particularly the weepy kind), dermatitis, and possibly psoriasis.10 Because of Juniper’s analgesic and diuretic action, this oil is also indicated for arterial congestion11 and is one of the most valuable essential oils in situations where the body needs to throw off toxic wastes.12 As a neurotonic, this energizing oil relieves depression and stimulates the mind.13
