Gum Resin, Hydrodistilled, Ethiopia

Myrrh is an anti-inflammatory, antifungal, antimicrobial, antiseptic and astringent that can be used on cuts, wounds, dry and aging skin and athlete€™s foot.  It can also be used as an expectorant and for asthma, bronchitis, sinusitis and sore throat, including loss of voice. Myrrh could be called the miraculous mouth care helping with various oral issues, including mouth ulcers, gum infections, gingivitis, weak gums and loose teeth. It is also used as a sedative during extreme emotional states, confusion, hysteria, fear and panic. Myrrh can also be used for skin inflammation including hemorrhoids and as a uterine tonic. Uses include inhalation, wash and massage. Avoid during pregnancy and use in moderation.

Our organic Myrrh from Somalia has more character than most Myrrh essential oils, displaying a buttery, warm, earthy, resinous aroma with hints of leather and dried fruit; the long, elegant drydown deepens with a smooth, richly resinous aroma. This is an exceptional steam distilled Myrrh with very good fixative properties.

The significant history of Myrrh dates back thousands of years for its extensive use in healing preparations, perfumery, incense, and ritualistic ceremonies. Myrrh essential oil is a warm, sweet smelling, earthy oil that can be used effectively in your aromatherapy and natural perfume blends.

Myrrh essential oil is especially valued as a meditative aid with the ability to instill deep tranquility of mind. In her book Subtle Aromatherapy, Patricia Davis states: “Myrrh is particularly valuable for people who feel ‘stuck’ emotionally or spiritually and want to move forward in their lives.”1
