Thyme thymol is best known for warding off infectious diseases. Its strong anti-infective properties also make it very effective for use in cleaning. It is one of the earliest medicinal plants used in the Mediterranean region. It was used in the embalmin gprocess by Egyptians and by the Greeks to fumigate against infectious disease. There are many uses to this herb in general. In Western herbal medicine, Thyme is used for respiratory problems and the prevention and treatment of infection.
Aromatic Profile: Warm, spicy-herbaceous
Appearance: Red, brown or orange liquid
Other Uses: In natural perfumery used in disinfectant sprays, herbal bouquets, aromatherapy blends, colognes(trace), spice notes(trace), sacred perfumes. Mouth wash, toothpastes, cough lozenges.
Blending Suggestions: Dilute well and add drop by drop to your blends until desired effect is achieved
Blends Well With: Lemon, Bergamot, Rosemary, Melissa, Lavender, Pine, Marjoram
Safety Considerations: Can irritate mucous membranes, cause dermal irritation, and sensitization in some individuals. Use in moderation. Avoid during pregnancy.
